Concert Opera Lucia di Lammermoor for CCOM 75th Anniversary Celebration Presented Successfully in CCOM

On the evening of October 3rd, 2015, the long awaited opera Lucia di Lammermoor composed by the great Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti had been performed in Beijing Concert Hall. It was the only opera presented for the 75th Anniversary Celebration of CCOM. The vocalists and the orchestra players were the teachers and students of CCOM. The vocalists included a number of faculty members of CCOM Zhang Liping, Zhang Jianyi, Yuan Chenye, Peng Kangliang, Wang Xianlin, Huang Li, and Xie Tian. The American opera conductor Mo Daniel Lipton and the Italian opera director Maurizio di mattia were invited to perform in this show. The opera was accompanied by CCOM China Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. It was a concert version of Lucia di Lammermoor

Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848) was the most successful Italian composer in opera field during the interregnum between Rossini and Verdi. Lucia di Lammermoor is Donizetti's greatest masterpiece. Lucia's "mad scene" and the "sextet" are the most famous section in this opera. Although it was a concert opera without scenery, the wonderful sound and technique of these excellent vocalists presented complete dramatic power and brought an enjoyable and beautiful music evening to all audiences.

We are looking forward to the real opera version of Lucia di Lammermoor being presented soon by the teachers and students of CCOM on our new stage of CCOM Opera House.
