On the evening of October 16, 2016, the opening concert of the 1st Beijing International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Young Pianists was held solemnly in the newly completed Opera & Concert Hall of CCOM. The Competition is hosted by the Central Conservatory of Music and organized by the Oriental Music (Beijing) Co. Ltd.. Before the formal concert, the Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Competition and the President of CCOM Yu Feng, the Ambassador of Poland in China Miroslaw Gajewski, the Chair of the Jury of the Competition Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron, and a competitor from Poland Krzysztof Ksiazek delivered speeches respectively. Krzysztof Ksiazek played the piano for President of P. R. China Xi Jinping and his wife when they visited in Poland on June 19, 2016.

On the first half of the concert, Mr. Li Yundi, the First Prize winner of the 14th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, the Promoting Ambassador of this Competition, Chinese pianist, played Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op.22. On the second half, Ms. Dina Yoffe, top prize-winner at the Schumann and Chopin International Piano Competitions, the Jury member of this Competition, Latovian pianist, played Piano Concerto No. 2 in f minor, Op.21. Ningbo Symphony Orchestra accompanied this concert which conducted by Professor Yu Feng, well-renowned conductor, the President of CCOM and the Chair of Organizing Committee of the Competition.

In order to reward all audiences for their warm applause, Mr. Li Yundi encored with Chopin Nocturne Op.9 No.2; and Ms. Dina Yoffe encored with Scriabin Preludes Op.11 No.4. Quite a number of leaders of all circles and guests from abroad and at home attended the concert. The leaders included Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Zhizhen, Chairman of the CPPCC Beijing Committee Ji Lin, Deputy Secretary General of the CPPC National Committee Zhang Qiujian, Director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the General Office of the CPPCC Li Xiaoyan, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Division of Education Ministry Xu Tao; Secretary of the Party Committee of CCOM Guo Shulan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CCOM Pang Huanlei, Vice President of CCOM Zhou Haihong, Vice President of CCOM Ye Xiaogang, President of Shenyang Music Conservatory Liu Hui, President of Tianjin Music Conservatory Xu Changjun, President of Xinghai Music Conservatory Tang Yongbao, etc. The guests included Ambassador of Poland in China Miroslaw Gajewski, Cultural Counsellor of Polish Embassy in Beijing [Cai Mengling], Cultural Counsellor of Rumanian Embassy in Beijing Lupeanu Adrian and his wife Mrs. Alina Lupeanu, President of China Philharmonic Orchestra Li Nan, Vice Mayor of Ningbo Zhang Minghua, Deputy Director of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute Wojciech Marchwica, etc.
