On the evening of November 1st, 2015, at 7:30pm, a Special Concert of CCOM Music Education Institute for the 75th Anniversary of CCOM was held successfully at the Concert Hall of CCOM. It was one of the opening concerts of the celebration event series. Many alumni and music amateurs attended the concert.
It was a joint concert performed by the Choir of Music Education Institute of CCOM, the Fourth Grade Choir of Philharmonic Experimental Primary School at Shijingshan District in Beijing, the Youth Choir of Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy, the Youth Choir of the Middle School of CCOM, and the Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy.
The repertoire of the Choir of Music Education Institute of CCOM included Chinese and Western chorus compositions, which were Northern Shaanxi folk song "Herding Sheeps," Inner Mongolia folk song "Gada Melin," Guizhou folk song "Looking for Fun from Melodies"; and "T?net,ihr Pauken! Erschallet Trompeten!" by J. S. Bach, "Laudate Dominum" by W. A. Mozart, "Little man in a hurry" by American contemporary composer Eric Whitacre. The compositions included local folk songs and western classical pieces which showed the high level of the choir members' music accomplishment.
The Fourth Grade Choir of Philharmonic Experimental Primary School at Shijingshan District in Beijing presented following compositions: school song "Chikuma" lyrics by Shen Xingong, "Selling Newspapers" by Nie Er; German folk song "May Day" lyrics translated by Liao Naixiong.
The Youth Choir of Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy performed following compositions: "Can You Hear The Bells?" by Roger Emerson, Australian folk song "Kookaburra," Yunnan folk song "Guessing Tune," Russian folk song "Kalinka." Their performance combined music and dance which well received from all audiences.
The Youth Choir of the Middle School of CCOM brought three excellent pieces which displayed their outstanding talents on music. The programs included "Hippity, Hippity" by Zoltan Kodaly, "The Daffoddils" by American composer Patti Drennan, "The Sun Came Out" by Chinese composer Sang Yesong.
By the end of the Concert, the students from the Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy performed the famous dance "Bolero" accompanied with the music composed by Maurice Ravel. The dance brought the whole concert again to a climax. The concert successfully concluded along with the chorus of "Bud Song" by Mr. Li Lanqing.
